After a couple weeks of maintenance complications and weather, we finally made it out fishing today. Mike, Bob, and Steve came looking for tuna, and we found a few today! The bar has been exceptionally shallow after all of the Northeast wind we have been having, so we waited for the Coast Guard to lead us out through the North Slough. It’s a little nerve wracking to run parallel to the oncoming sea but there is deep water, and we made it out safely. 
I was hoping for a Bluefin or two, but we found four bigeyes and four yellowfin instead. Great fishing with a great crew!
We just wrapped up filming Wicked Tuna Outer Banks this past weekend. It was a great season for the fleet, plenty of action and quite a few big fish! The General Category commercial quota has been caught and we are ready for charters! After about a ten day blow, the boats that fished Saturday and Sunday found the fish and they were HUNGRY! Today we ran our last charter for 2017. After a few days of Northeast wind, conditions had changed quite a bit since we last fished, and the wahoos were not biting quite like they did last week. We did find some yellowfin, a few blackfin, and some dolphin.
What a hood way to wrap up a great season. I would like to thank all of my charters who helped make 2017 one of my best charter years ever! Now it’s time to get to the boatyard for a little maintenance and get in shape for our winter bluefin season. We decided to target wahoo today and luckily, it worked out well for our group! We landed 7 out of 10 bites, Six of the seven were citations 85, 65, 52, 53, 53, and 42 pounds! We still have some days open this week, give me a call 252-216-9034
We had some great fishing on Saturday with two more big wahoo, 67# and 68# along with a 60# yellowfin and a few smaller ones. I still have a few days open next week before we wrap up our 2017 charter season if you want to get in on the action!
We have had some good blackfin fishing for the last month or so, but, other than a few trips, we have failed to find any numbers of yellowfin. Today we turned the page. We fished from the mid 800’s up to the 000’s, and caught a dozen yellowfin up to 50#, a handful of blackfin, ands 63# wahoo. Great fishing today, let’s hope for the same conditions tomorrow!
Mike Mattingly has been fishing with me for close to 15 years. He always brings a good crew and a lot of luck! We took a chance today and ran down the beach looking for wahoo and blackfin. True to form, Mike’s luck held up and we ended up with a mixed bag, blackfin tuna, wahoo, mahi, amberjack, a barracuda, and a rainbow runner for our token exotic!

You never know what you’ll find fishing off the Outer Banks. It seems like I’ve caught more mahi this October than I did in August, and today we caught a white marlin as well. Yellowfin, mahi, blackfin, and a white one rounded out a pretty day offshore!
