We set out East of the Inlet and hooked a fish immediately. Unfortunately we pulled that one off but hooked another as soon as we got set back out. We released him, probably a 400#, 90″ fish. The rest of the day we watched fish after fish swimming down sea but we couldn’t get any more bites. Plenty of dates available and pretty weather this week. Give me a call 252-216-9034
Headed out for our first charter of the season! Report to follow
Today we moved the boat back to OIFC from Hatteras. We are switching back to charter mode. The box is gone, chairs back in place, and the weather looks great for the next couple of days. Come down and check us out and lets try to get fishing this week.
The Coast Guard has cancelled the restricted navigation area around the Bonner Bridge. Simply put, vessels that draw less than five foot are able to transit the bridge and the inlet. This decision was made from the district Commander of the Coast Guard after hearing from several Captains in the fleet, and the steps that we had made in order to safely transit the bridge. The dredge Merritt arrived on scene today, and is working to re establish the marked navigation channel. In the mean time, we are free to travel through the southern spans as we had been doing all winter. Many thanks to Jason Hutt, Charley Pereira, Shack, Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet, and everyone else who worked to make this happen. A little communication goes a long way!
WE ARE OPEN FOR CHARTERS AND THE BLUEFIN ARE HERE!
We had to circumnavigate Pamlico sound and Hatteras Inlet, 100 plus miles, to get to the fish that were 40 miles from home, but the trip turned out to be a success. Three keepers, one dressed at 410#! The fish are her, this is the best sign we have seen all year, and I am not allowed to transit Oregon Inlet! We are working on an interim plan to allow limited access to the Inlet so we can continue transmitting the bridge as we have all winter, and hopefully make some charter days
We have a one day weather window to try and find a bluefin. The last week proved to be decent fishing and hopefully we can locate some fish today before the wind picks up. As late as these fish showed up this year, odds are they will be around through April so if you want to try your hand at catching a nice Bluefin, check out fishinfrenzy.com for booking info. We are fully booked until the end of the month but April is wide open
