We wrapped up the 2017 commercial bluefin season on Wednesday and have started getting ready for our charter season. As luck would have it, we needed to cancel this morning due to weather. If you’re looking for a charter, give me a call 252-216-9034 and we will hook you up!
This winter was one of the better bluefin seasons we have had the chance to participate in, our quota was increased to 81 ton, and we landed 104.7! After this summer, where the limit was 5 fish per day from June 1 until November, NMFS transferred over 200 ton of quota to the General Category and still allowed the fishery torn over. We have proven that we have a viable winter bluefin fishery and should get a similar quota in the years to come. Bluefin stocks appear to be quite healthy, and I think we are making a case for a 12 month fishery. That would give the entire East Coast fleet a chance to participate in what can prove to be a lucrative fishery when managed properly. Open the season at 1-2 fish per day and let the quota run to completion.
It’s time to spread some holiday cheer! Visit the Frenzy Shop and get 20% off your order up until Dec 19, 2017!
We wrapped up our 2016 charter season today. Mike Mattingly and his crowd have been fishing on the Frenzy for years, and today they got to see some of the best fishing we have had in weeks! We checked the satellite shot this morning and saw a little bubble of 75° water out east of the Inlet. Before we could get 4 lines in the water,we hooked 3 yellowfin! In the meat! We ended up the day with a dozen yellowfin and a 52# wahoo for a centerpiece!
