On Monday, we hauled the Frenzy to Briglia Boat Works in Wanchese for a some major improvements. After 31 years, the old girl is finally getting some fiberglass on her hull sides. We started with a torch and scraper to get most of the old paint off, and then used 8″ grinders with 36 grit to remove the rest. Fortunately, the wood planks were all in excellent shape, so with just a few minor repairs, we were able to lay the glass on Thursday. Friday morning we came back and ground the glass down so we could begin the finish work. Hopefully we will have some red paint on her right after Thanksgiving. We finally got a chance to go fishing! The weather stopped us this past weekend, and I’ve been out of town for a few weeks, but it all came together yesterday. We caught 17 tunas an 1 gaffer. I’ve got plenty of dates open, and the fishing is great, so give me a call and we’ll get you out fishing.
I went up to the Northeast today with the marlin fleet. We caught 3 out of 5 white marlin and a limit of dolphin for the day.
We caught 4 tuna and a limit of dolphin on the point today. Once again, the marlin fishing was excellent, the top boat had a total of 6 white marlin and 3 sailfish. I’mm going up that way tomorrow, hopefully we’ll find a few.
we went to the point looking for tuna today and found a few. Wecaught 3 50 pounders and lost a few more. It looks like fishing is starting to shape up, the marlin fleet had 4 to 12 bites per boat. Give me a call and we’ll get you out fishing.
Dolphin fishing was excellent today. We found one school and caught all we needed in about 20 minutes. There were several sails caught yesterday., and we released 1 out of about 7 bites
Today we fished the Annual Alice Kelly Ladies Only Billfishi Tournament. There were 87 boats that fished today. Mary Temple Mullis caught a 150# blue marlin on a TLD 20, the fish really put on a good show for us. Two boats caught Grand Slams, and there were several boats with 2- 3 billfish each. It looks like fishing is shaping up for us, give me a call and we’ll set something up.
Today we had some excellent tile fishing east of the inlet. We also caught a sailfish and haad a few other sail bites.
We found 3 gaffers and 6 bailers for Adam , Trish, Mike and Amanda today. Adam’s gaffer was a citation 37 pounder! 0 for 1 on the sails today, glad to see there are still a few around.
