After nearly 40 years, the polyester has delaminated from the bow deck on the Frenzy. I had a break in my schedule, and Spencer Yachts had an opening in the shed, so we hauled up last Monday and went to work. We used 1208 cloth with West System Epoxy and AdTech Proseal for buildup. Alexseal topcoat completes the job. With a little more paint work, we should be back overboard Monday, I just need to find divinycell h80 in this store.
In the last week or so, there have been a few tuna showing up offshore. One or two bigeyes to the fleet, a handful of 50-60 pounders, and a limit or two of pups have been caught by the fleet over the last few days. It looks like our fall tuna fishing is getting ready to turn on, don’t miss your opportunity to get in on this action! And tune in Sunday night for the finale of Wicked Tuna Outer Banks. August was an incredible month for dolphin fishing, and, so far, September has followed suit. I know my fishing reports have been few and far between, but her are a few pics from the last month.
Its been a long month. We started out by running aground, but with all of the hard work by The crew at Bayliss yachts, Jeff Hathaway, and the Welding Shop, we got patched up and back fishing in a week’s time! Only in Wanchese can you get those kind of results! Our first day back, we caught 1 out of 2 blue marlin, a 500 pounder on a TLD 20!
A nice 52# wahoo plus a limit of dolphin. Hooked two out of three spearfish, but they both fell off after some impressive aerial acrobatics. We have dates open this week, give me a call 252-216-9034
I had a first today. We hooked four blue marlin at the same time and caught all of them! A quadruple header! I have seen three triples in my career, catching two twice, and one out of the third, but never have I had the opportunity to hook four blue ones at once. Today must have been our lucky day. We set back out and caught a white marlin, and found a piece of float that was holding a few dolphin. Apparently the Marlin are starting to show up, and we have some days open in August, so don’t hesitate to call and book your trip now!
