Once again, the Sharks have been on a rampage! It seems that every time we hook a tuna, we are hoping and praying that it won’t get eaten by the seemingly thousands of “endangered” sharks that are here on the grounds. NMFS has declared a moratorium on a directed shark fishery on the East Coast. Apparently, this is one more mismanaged fishery by the powers that be! The stocks have apparently rebounded to record levels, although no fisheries scientist will tell you. Fishermen up and down the East Coast have seen record numbers of sharks, yet they are not allowed to harvest them. In the meantime, sometimes hundreds of tuna are being eaten off the lines of Oregon inlet Charter and commercial boats every day. Endangered species, I think not! We were fortunate today, and only lost one bigeye to the sharks, and we managed to land two bigeyes, 172# and 111#, along with a few dolphin and a couple of 60# yellowfin. We have a few dates open the first week of July, 252-216-9034 if you are ready to go Fishin’!
