The Coast Guard has cancelled the restricted navigation area around the Bonner Bridge. Simply put, vessels that draw less than five foot are able to transit the bridge and the inlet. This decision was made from the district Commander of the Coast Guard after hearing from several Captains in the fleet, and the steps that we had made in order to safely transit the bridge. The dredge Merritt arrived on scene today, and is working to re establish the marked navigation channel. In the mean time, we are free to travel through the southern spans as we had been doing all winter. Many thanks to Jason Hutt, Charley Pereira, Shack, Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet, and everyone else who worked to make this happen. A little communication goes a long way!
